Oriel windows atop the Zafar Mahal, Delhi, India

Bahadur Shah Zafar was the last of the Great Mughal kings of India before he was dethroned and exiled by the British forces in AD 1857. The majestic central gate to the ancestral summer palace of the Mughals was one of the few constructions done by him. He named it Zafar Mahal after his nom de plume ‘Zafar’.
